Back in 1961 there was an act that was passed called the Interstate Wire Act, or Federal Wire Act. Essentially, it declared that using a wire transmission to place a bet or to gamble was illegal. Many lawmakers have taken this and applied it to online gaming since these casino games are played over the internet. Now, you have to keep in mind that this was before the internet and online casinos were available. Many opponents to this bill argue that it was pertaining to placing bets over the telephone for sporting events.
All legalities aside, there are many casinos online that offer a wide variety of card games, slots, roulette, horse racing and even card games, such as Black Jack. There is literally something for everyone. Many of the best poker players in the industry now utilize online gambling as a way to hone their skills and rake up big payouts that allow them to play live.
