For those who prefer action, Omaha or Omaha Hi/Low is a great game. It is quite similar to Hold’em, the difference is that the player gets 4 hole cards. Having 2 extra cards almost make sure that there is a best hand possible. One of the fascinating things about a lot of these different types of poker games is that they have Hi/Low versions. This spurs the betting on as the hitting hand bets wildly to eliminate the chasers.
While Texas Hold’em gets all the TV time, there is not game better for action than Omaha or Omaha Hi/Low. The difference between Texas Hold’em and Omaha is that the participant receives 4 hole cards in Omaha. The additional 2 cards almost assure that the best hand available is out there somewhere. The existence of Hi/Low versions in these games give them more appeal. As the player who has hit tries to push the chasers out, the betting gets wild.
Different strategies are required for these varieties of poker games if you want to participate in games where you can scoop the pot. Scooping the pot does not mean covering only one side, it means winning both the Hi and Low hands. Due to all the variables and the 4 hole cards there is always a huge amount of money in the pot.
Also remember that it never does any harm to rely on a good set of poker tools or study some of the best poker books!
While there are many different types of poker games to choose from, an old favorite is 7 card stud. It is a game which has a Low and a Hi version. 2 cards are first distributed face down and then one with its face up. A round of betting occurs and then each player receives another up card. This is repeated until all players in the hand have 2 down card and 4 up cards. This is the time when the final round of betting occurs.
Holdem Stud Poker is different from other poker games like Omaha as it is not a chaser’s game. If your hand does not develop within the first round of betting and solidify on the second up card, you need to get out of the hand. If you do not do that, you will lose. As it is necessary to keep in mind all the cards that have been dealt so far, this game requires brainpower too. You might end up making a useless effort by searching for a card which has already been folded. Pay attention and keep track of the cards on the board.
Razz is another different poker game just for people with bad luck. Here you are aiming for the worst possible cards. You can scoop the pot in Razz with A-2-3-4-6-7-8. It is dealt and bet the same exact way as 7 stud, you just the lowest ranked hand on the board to win. As in regular stud, only 5 cards play.
Triple Draw is another type of poker games that is getting a lot of attention these days. It is another of the different types of poker games that are action packed and is extremely fun to play. If you play it properly, it can earn you lots of money. People tend to play this for fun, especially at the lower levels. This game is like another version of Razz using a 5 card draw model. You are dealt 5 cards and there is a round of betting. By discarding as many cards as you like, you should try to get the worst possible hand. 2-3-4-5-7 is a big thing for standard Triple Draw. The first draw is followed by a round of betting and a discard round. Showdown occurs after a third draw followed by a round of betting. No pairs, flushes or straights are necessary to win. You want pure garbage and you scoop the pot.

Playing poker and roulette online may be the main reason for the heady success of online casinos the world over, but the casino game has been instrumental in helping with global issues. There is extensive popularity that it quickly became known to the entire world, especially during championships when lots of jackpots and prizes are being awarded to the lucky participants.
However, contrary to most people think, the winnings are not solely enjoyed by the pros of poker. The prizes are at times given up for charity, as in making donations for feeding starving people in many parts of the world. War, ethnic unrest over decades and poverty go together leaving horrors and deaths in their trail. Norman Epstein, Annie Duke and Cheadle – the poker champions – raised funds in 2006 to help the war victims of Darfur in Sudan and to help promote peace in Africa.
The project pushed through involving a poker tournament which gathered many celebrities all over the world to raise money that went up way above ,000 to aid suffering people who were left without food and shelter. The presence of top personalities in show purposely attracts thousands of gaming enthusiasts and fans to take part in the show and to experience how it is like to be with these so-called poker icons from different parts of the globe.
Almost .5 million raised!
The success of these noble causes has been possible due to tremendous popularity of the casino game played online that has hooked millions the world over. Hundreds of thousands of participants are willing to invest their time in such game because they do not have to leave their rooms. Apart from being a thrilling entertainment, poker has become an interest to the experienced gambler and newcomer alike because of its support to charity for the people of Africa. On the very first day, the charity money picked up exceeded all expectations.
The expected amount was somewhere between twenty thousand and thirty thousand dollars but an enormous amount of seven hundred thousand dollars astounded everyone. Over the years after the Africa fund was founded, nearly .5 million has been raised to help the devastated population in Darfur. In addition, the group travels to different parts of the world – from Las Vegas to Monte Carlo – to do poker meets and raise more money for charity.

I am somebody who loves to play online poker. It is more about the enjoyment and the relaxation than about attempting to gain financially. It goes without saying that it is always good to win and if you can make some money from playing a game that you enjoy then it’s a massive bonus. I personally like to play on a table where there are only a total of five players with the first two players receiving a pay out. My aim is to reach the “heads up” stage by playing as “tight” as I can. If I can get into the final two I feel that I have a seventy percent chance of winning the tournament as I then change my poker strategy from playing tight to playing aggressively.
I am by no means a professional poker player; in my business life I run a web promotion company and I also help people who offer bargain holiday deals. As a side line to these main business interests I am also involved in the DVD authoring sector.
I used to be a very poor “heads up” player as I would often get bullied out of the majority of the hands. I realised that I had to learn a new way of playing in the final stage of a poker tournament as what I was currently doing was not working.
I soon learned that I needed to be the aggressor, the poker bully if you like. Instead of folding the majority of hands I now play, on average, ninety-five percent of them. I raise the pot with any ace, king, queen or Jack and raise all in with any two picture cards or when I am dealt an ace with a picture card.
By doing this I win a lot of the pots by default and if the other player chooses to call I believe I have a great chance of winning the hand. Just limping in can lead to all sorts of problems/decisions. It is a prudent idea to start in a very decisive way; be strong but also wary of your opponents. It has be said that we all lose from time to time; this is fairly obvious but these methods have enabled me to gain a seventy percent success rate at heads up during the last three months. I hope these tips work as well for you as they have for me.

If you are a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, it really doesn’t matter what poker level you are at as long as you keep stepping forward to improve your overall game of poker. As your poker career moves forward it’s always rewarding to see your progress, whether you are looking just to improve your play or if you are looking to make more money.
So what are some good methods you can use to improve your poker strategies?
Reading
Whether it’s on the internet or a book from the library, there is masses of information available which can offer you new techniques and strategies that you can incorporate into your game. From the very basics of playing, to advanced lines of attack, if self-learning is your thing it’s possible to find a lot of information about the game.
Get A Mentor
Like many other industries, poker coaches and mentors are becoming increasingly popular in the online world. Mentors are usually people who have reached the top of the game, or are experts at a specific technique, and they will take the time to teach you how you can implement these into your own game. Unfortunately, mentors can be expensive and they need to make it worth their while since they could be winning thousands playing online poker. On the upside of using a mentor, you can frequently make back the charges rather quickly by implementing the new strategies that you learn.
Ask. Ask. Ask.
Become a member of an online group or poker forum and ask other players what is working for them. They probably won’t tell you all of their winning secrets, but even just learning a few new ones can increase your chances of poker success.

If you believe what the new Celebrity Apprentice Joan Rivers says, professional poker players are “beyond white trash.” But I think there are millions of people who would beg to differ. As a matter of fact, poker is incredibly popular at the moment and so are those who play it professionally. This is evidenced by the fact that poker players like Annie Duke, Phil Gordon, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow and many others have achieved huge celebrity status in recent years.
This surge in popularity has caused many to try their hand, so to speak, at making a living playing on Internet poker sites. The results have been good for some and because of this many more people have become online poker millionaires. These poker successes are not always who you would expect them to be, because they’re often very young and not seasoned pros. Unfortunately, for every new batch of successful poker players, there are also those who have been victims of Internet poker scams. Mostly new players step into this trap, because they don’t know how to verify a poker site’s bona fides.
To make sure you don’t fall into this same trap, the following tips can help you assess whether a site has the potential to be a scam:
- If the site doesn’t have professional-looking graphics and technology, go somewhere else. Low-quality construction could be the sign of a quick-buck artist at work or at the very least, a cash-strapped operator.
- Check if the site or its owners are members of the Interactive Gaming Council (IGC). IGC members pledge to follow a code of ethics.
- Make sure the site has 24-hour support with a toll-free phone number and e-mail.
- If the site looks professional, is an IGC member and has good contact info, do several small transactions as tests before you do any major gambling. These should tell you a lot about the workings of the site.
Everyone has to start somewhere, so there’s no reason why with a little luck and a lot of practice you couldn’t become one of online poker’s stars. Just be sure to do your due diligence first, so any success you achieve won’t be spoiled by regret.

There has been much discussion on the pros and cons of gambling, usually ending in the opinion that it is a bad habit. We are all aware that if it gets out of hand too much gambling can cause addiction, debt, broken homes and ruined lives, but we ignore the possibility that it could actually work in our favour too. Could it be that we’re projecting the misfortunes of a few unlucky individuals onto gambling in general as a bad thing? After all, who hasn’t gambled at some point in their lives, whether they’ve entered a casino or bookies with the purpose of placing a bet, played the occasional quick game of online poker or simply bought a scratch card or lottery ticket?
Because gambling is all around us everyday, and it’s becoming a way of life. Not just the ready availability of the lottery and Everest Poker but even the smallest, most normal things like crossing the road or trying a new flavour of crisps are a gamble, not to mention the risks we all take in business or on the property market. In fact the skills required to become a successful gambler are not so far from those that we use to make the most important decisions in life, such as choosing a new house or a school for our children. We couldn’t possibly know everything, but by assessing the situation and using the information we do have we make the most educated choice we can.
There are many different kinds of gambling, and it doesn’t always have to be purely about luck. You might not need any particular skills to play the lottery, but if you want to win at a game of Betfair Poker or place a winning bet on the horses then the more knowledge and experience you have the more money you will make. And with the right attitude and the right skills anyone can become a successful gambler without letting it take over. Not all gamblers are left with nothing, those are just the ones we hear most about – the important thing is never to bet more than you can afford to lose. Stick to that simple rule and you could become a successful gambler, and have fun doing it too.

We’ve all heard horror stories about gambling ruining people’s lives and ending up causing broken homes, addiction and debt. Obvoiusly no one wants to end up like this, and many people make a point of never placing even the tiniest bet, in case it ended up happening to them. But in fact gambling can be incredibly exciting, and if you know what you’re doing you could find that it’s easy enough to win heaps without losing too much.
The most important thing is to make sure you don’t go over your budget, or get involved with anything you’re not sure about. Sure, you can make serious amounts of cash by placing big bets and there are people who have become so good at gambling that they don’t even need to work. But these people have been successful because they know their limits, they keep a cool head and they don’t bet more than they could afford to lose. The thrill of taking risks can drive people to place big bets even when they’ve already made losses, but the trick is to be able to recognise when you’ve gone far enough.
Gambling comes in many forms, some of which are pure luck but some require a particular type of skill and experience. Anyone can buy a lottery ticket or scratchcard but betting on the horses or playing poker, whether at a real table or online sites like Everest poker, require a level of knowledge and experience to win, and it is these games that are the most fun to play. For people who want to enjoy gambling without the danger of getting too sucked in, online poker is a good place to start as sites likeLittlewoods Poker allow you to bet as much or as little as you like. It doesn’t cost much to sign up and although most poker rooms do take a percentage of each pot as ‘rake’, there are some great online poker offers available where you can get most of this back. Gambling won’t do you any harm, it can be fun especially when you think your plan could pay off, provided you allow for the possibility of losing and don’t bet too much at once.
